I have had a passion for health and wellness from an early age. My goal has always been to teach people how to move more efficiently so that they can perform Activities of Daily Living with ease. That mission has expanded to include yoga, assisted stretching, and mobility and stability training.
My first love was resistance training, I walked into my first gym in 1982. For the next 20 years, I learned as much as I could through self-study until I finally got certified as a trainer in 2007 and started helping others with their fitness goals. In 2013, I went back to school to delve deeper into all things related to how the body moves. I have acquired quite a few continuing education credentials along the way, all with the same goal in mind, keep people moving. Forty years later, that has expanded to redefining how we age!
My years of experience have taught me that in order to start and sustain a fitness/wellness program, it is crucial that it be catered to fit the needs of the individual, there is no "one-size-fits-all' approach. You must allow for your likes and dislikes, as well as your current situation. Keeping intrinsically motivated is key to your success.
I tailor workouts and activities to what people will do and where they are at, which makes staying healthy fun and sustainable.
Those credentials I mentioned earlier now include a B.S. in Exercise Science and Health and Promotion. I am a NASM certified Personal Trainer, Stretching and Flexibility Coach, Corrective Exercise and Applied Functional Science Specialist. I am also a certified Yoga Instructor registered with Yoga Alliance since 2018.
I look forward to applying my education and years of experience to your health and wellness journey.
Whether you're interested in assisted stretching, stability and mobility training or yoga, all are aimed at creating balance in the body by lengthening overactive muscles and strengthening underactive muscles.
I offer a unique approach to yoga instruction that combines different modalities such as resistance, core, flexibility, and balance training. All are designed to lengthen and strengthen the body, as well as getting you in and out of poses safely.
Virtual training is just that, one on one training online. I couldn't be more excited to add this vital component to Cherring Health and Wellness!
